First Impressions

At Granite Lake, we want to be strategic and intentional about creating a warm, welcoming environment throughout the church . Ultimately we want to create an environment where people encounter the living God, and know they are part of His family.  Our Family.

First Impressions

We see hospitality in the bible a number of times, by receiving and loving strangers. Hospitality is a pure act of love and kindness, and it involves love from deep within, from our hearts. When we treat others with hospitality, and do it with joy and eagerness, we align with Christ’s teachings and bring honor to His name.

When Jesus encountered the Woman at the Well, in John 4:4-26, Jesus demonstrated hospitality by starting the conversation with a Samaritan woman. She was a "Samaritan" and a "woman"... already two strikes against her, and yet even though there were cultural barriers and prejudices, Jesus showed kindness, respect, and genuine interest in her life. Ultimately by interacting with a marginalized woman, Jesus' identity as the Messiah was revealed. When we are hospitable, even when there are barriers, we are honoring Jesus.

We want to express love, compassion, and encouragement to others, and be obedient to God. We want to make a personal connection with people who come to Granite Lake, and we want them to learn about and connect with Jesus.

Ultimately we want to create an environment where people encounter the Living God, and know they are part of His family. Our family.

What to Expect

Do you have questions about Granite Lake Church?
Here are some frequently asked questions and answers.

231 5th Street, Lewiston, Idaho 83501

Granite Lake meets at 10:00 am Sunday Morning

Granite Lake has street parking on 5th Street and 3rd Avenue.  There is additional parking on St. Johns Way.

Granite Lake has Kids Service downstairs usually after the second Worship Song. The kids are called up to the front of the church and prayed over, and then follow one of the leaders down stairs where they meet in age appropriate rooms. We have a nursery and toddler room, where the kids are cared for, sing and learn about Jesus. Kids - Preschool - 6th grade meet in the fellowship room downstairs and have a Bible lesson, an activity and a snack. (Please let the leaders know if your children have any food allergies or sensitivities).

If you've never been to church - you will definitely  be welcome at Granite Lake. We have a “come as you are” environment. It doesn't matter if you’ve never been to church before or you’re a Sunday regular, you’ll fit right in! We usually have coffee in the Lobby, a variety of live music bands, a challenging, thought-provoking message that’s practical and you can apply to your life, and a loving group of people that care about each other. Visit us this Sunday and experience the difference. Granite Lake will change the way you think about Church.

Please wear clothes!
Really -- Just be yourself and dress comfortably. (The Pastor usually wears jeans or casual slacks, so we do too).

We believe in living a life of mission in our community. One way we do this at Granite Lake is in small Life Groups or Bible Studies. Life Groups are a smaller group of people coming together weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly to grow in their faith and carry out the Great Commission of Jesus by teaching and making disciples. Bible Studies meet to study the Bible, pray and fellowship. We also have a number of activities and events for the whole church quite often.

Please do. Contact our Pastor Bill or Jennifer, or one of the Elders ( Mike, Luis, or Don) or anyone else you know or feel comfortable talking to.

Loving, Serving, Reaching
Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

Philippians 2:1

make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.

Philippians 2:2

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves;

Philippians 2:3

do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

Philippians 2:4

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,

Philippians 2:5

who, as He already existed in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

Philippians 2:6

but emptied Himself by taking the form of a bond-servant and being born in the likeness of men.

Philippians 2:7

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death: death on a cross.

Philippians 2:8
