Meet our Elders

ELDERS ARE TO LEAD, TEACH, PROTECT AND LOVE THEIR CHURCH MEMBERS THE WAY SHEPHERDS CARE FOR THE SHEEP IN A FLOCK. THEY LEAD, TEACH PROTECT AND LOVE THEM SO THAT THE CHURCH MEMBERS WILL GROW UP INTO SPIRITUAL MATURITY (EPHESIANS 4:11-13).

What is an elder?

Elders are "Shepherds."  The Old and New Testaments both use "Shepherding" as a metaphor to describe the spiritual leaders of the church.  (Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:1-4). Elders lead, teach and protect the members of their church, like a shepherd would care for his sheep, leading them into spiritual health and maturity (Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Timothy 3:2; Acts 20:28).

Preachers are often called "Pastor" because they "shepherd" their church.  Pastors and Elders are models for Christian maturity (Acts 15:4; Titus 1:5, 1 Peter 5:3; Hebrews 13:7). Elders and Pastors are not perfect people, but they should be able to come along side their church body with encouragement and love, teaching and feeding them (1 Timothy 3:2), and protecting them from false teaching (Titus 1:9 Acts 20:30-31); knowing that they are accountable to God  on the churches behalf.

Prayer

Although each of our Elders want to follow God's lead, they are busy with their own jobs, families, lives and spiritual growth, so please be patient if you are looking for a call back.  Please know that we will be praying for you and for God's will to be done in your life, and we will keep what you say here confidential & with prayer and consideration.

Loving, Serving, Reaching
Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over them not out of compulsion, but because it is God’s will; not out of greed, but out of eagerness;

1 Peter 5:2

not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock

1 Peter 5:3

Not that we lord it over your faith, but we are fellow workers with you for your joy, because it is by faith that you stand firm

2 Corinthians 1:24

As God’s steward, an overseer must be above reproach—not self-absorbed, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not greedy for money.

Titus 1:7

Instead, he must be hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.

Titus 1:8

He must hold firmly to the faithful word as it was taught, so that he can encourage others by sound teaching and refute those who contradict it.

Titus 1:9

Don Davis

I was born and raised on a ranch 16 miles northeast of Grangeville, Idaho. As a youngster I attended Church at Clearwater Baptist church in Clearwater, Idaho. I moved to Lewiston after graduating High School in 1968. In 1969 I met Lana, the love of my life and we were married in July of 1970. After living in Lewiston 4 years, we moved to Lana’s family farm to help with the farming duties and there we raised our family. While on the farm we attended Winchester Community Church, where I served several years as an Elder and stepped in to deliver a Sunday message when needed. I have always enjoyed working with kids and started a 5th and 6th grade basketball program soon after moving to the farm. In the spring months I would put together a AAU track and field program for kids of all ages and we competed in meets all around the northwest . I ended up at Highland High School in Craigmont and spent 20 years coaching High School basketball and track and field.  I retired from farming and a 10 year term as a Lewis County Commissioner in 2017 and Lana and I moved to Lewiston to enjoy a little warmer climate. While searching for a place to worship we found Granite Lake Community Church, and have been blessed beyond measure here. I have enjoyed serving as an Elder here and have grown immensely in my walk with the Lord. Jesus Christ has been a huge influence in our lives as we just celebrated our 54th wedding anniversary. While scripture provides so many beautiful verses, my go to one is Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Mike Graham

Mike is married to Kim.  Mike works for Living Waters and has 3 beautiful children. Mike gave his life to the Lord many years ago and has since served in our church doing announcements on Sunday, leading in the Men's Ministry, and teaching and holding Life Groups with Kim at their home and at the church for many years.  His wife Kim plays the piano and sings on our Worship Team.

Luis Jiminez

Luis and his son, Kaden have served the Lord for many years.  He can be found working in the Technology Room or on the stage playing his base or the drums.

Bill Hayne

Bill has been married to Jennifer for more than 40 years. Bill has been pastor at Granite Lake Church since 2009.  He started as an Assistant Pastor at Warner Alliance Church, for Rod Benner in 1997. Bill was Interim Pastor when Rod left for a few years, and then, in 2000, they brought in a Lead Pastor to take Rod's place.  Warner Alliance then became Cross Point in Lewiston.  Bill was asked to be the Interim pastor for Orofino Alliance in 2005, and served there until we brought in another Pastor in 2008. Soon after that, Granite Lake Community Church was looking for someone to replace Buzz McKarcher, who was retiring. Bill joined Granite Lake Community Church as the Part-time Interim Pastor in 2009.  He became Pastor of Granite Lake Church of the Open Bible in 2022.
